TOAT Sketches — An Invitation to Play
These are original A3 (42 × 30 cm) oil paintings on canvas-covered board, painted outdoors or directly from life. They’re not prints, not studies, but one-off works — traditionally how I explore ideas for larger compositions.
Sometimes a sketch turns out to be a finished piece in its own right. That said, I rarely release them until I’m sure I’ve got all the use I can from them in the studio. I’ve now decided to release a maximum of 30 of the very best each year and turn them into a kind of collector’s trading card scheme.
