Service Description

Tony can often be found out and about with his easel painting 'En Plein Air' and in this one day course you will have the opportunity to learn about the challenges and benefits of working outdoors, including how to capture the changing light and atmosphere of the landscape. You will also learn techniques for painting on location, including colour mixing, brushwork and composition. The course will take place in some of Sussex's most picturesque locations including the idyllic village of Iford (home to Tony's studio) , the dramatic cliffs of the Seven Sisters and the rolling hills of South Downs National Park. Participants will have the opportunity to explore these locations and create their own paintings of the stunning scenery. What will you learn? We will begin with a mercifully brief chat about the kit. From there, we will delve into the basics of sketching in paint, including the importance of observation, value, and perspective. You will be taught new and alien seeming techniques to access parts of your brain you don't usually, consciously use. Once you have gained some experience with sketching, we will move on to blocking in your composition. You will learn how to use colour and form to create a sense of depth and realism in your paintings. A delicious vegetarian lunch is included as well as tea, coffee and cake. All you need to bring is your own French or Box easel. https://www.amazon.co.uk/HOMCOM-Painters-Portable-Folding-Lightweight/dp/B00ZI8DOXY/ref=psdc_3063457031_t1_B07R16DTCQ
