PRESS RELEASE — FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Centuries-Old Oil Painting Meets Blockchain: British Artist Tony Parsons Launches Tradeable Fine Art in Guildford

Guildford, UK – July 2025
Artist Tony Parsons is shaking up the UK art market by combining centuries-old oil painting methods with cutting-edge blockchain technology — turning traditional canvases into secure, tradeable assets for modern collectors.

For one weekend only, Parsons will show his latest collection, Gilded View, at the historic Guildford Guildhall (18–20 July). Every painting comes with a TOAT — a Tradable Original Art Token — a blockchain-backed digital certificate guaranteeing authenticity, ownership, and a secure chain of provenance.

“When people buy my work, they’re not just buying a painting for the wall,” says Parsons. “They’re buying something that can hold or grow in value, with a bulletproof record behind it — but made with the same techniques artists used 300 years ago.”

The Gilded View show is part of Parsons’ mission to make fine art not just collectable but liquid — opening resale opportunities that keep the artist directly involved and benefit original buyers.

“The technology behind the blockchain is solid — but the NFT craze dragged it off course. I’m using it differently: to anchor real, investment-grade paintings to an incorruptible ownership ledger, making buying, selling, and tracing a work’s life much clearer and safer.”

Exhibition Details:
• Private View: Friday 18 July, 6–9pm
• Public Days: Saturday 19 & Sunday 20 July
• Venue: Guildford Guildhall, High Street, Guildford, Surrey
